Be Objective

Consider how the relationship may be getting in the way and what you can do about it
Be vigilant of victims and villains: we live in stores - about ourselves, others and situations and believe our stories are the ‘truth’ step out of your own story
Stay focused on what needs to change and have ideas of what changes can turn things around

Be Brave

Start by not prejudging they aren’t able to take feedback, then plan your approach from a place of respect and a genuine desire to make things work better
There are always two sides to every story, clearly state the facts as you see them, then invite them to do the same, confirm what you agree on and where there are discrepancies
Know the difference between talking up and talking down to someone by thinking of the higher purpose and remembering if its about you ‘winning’ then that implies someone else must lose

Be the Change you Want to See

When they act small, act big to avoid letting their bad behaviours be an excuse for your own
Check you ego, set your intention: egos can be be healthy but can also get in the way of behaving in a way that serves a positive outcome
Acknowledge when you don’t have the answer that you would like to work together to achieve it
